About Listings   How to read the BASIC listings
A selection of programs from the 1980s. Some from magazine listings, some my own.
Suitable for use with emulators or copy them for a real Commodore computer.
Disk images (.d64), program images (.prg), tape images (.tap) and listings (BASIC only).
Please read these notes . . . . .
To the best of my knowledge the software provided here is already in the public domain. That is, it has previously been published in printed form. In the case of my own work, this is the first time it has been made available.
Programs can be downloaded in d64 and prg formats for use with Commodore emulators. A selection of these can be found on the links page. The settings required to run these files will depend on the emulator being used.
Programs written in Commodore (Microsoft) Basic 2.0 are accompanied by a listing. These are in pdf format. An explanation of the listings can be seen by clicking the About Listings link. This is also available in pdf form.
In some cases a pdf file with further information on the program is provided.
Some of my own software is written in machine code. These programs are part of a suite which uses a common set of instructions. The instructions are loaded with the program which cannot be run without them. However, once a program has been loaded, others can be loaded without resetting the computer.
The programs provided are generally from magazines from the early 1980s. In some cases I have made alterations, either for effect or to enable their use with emulators. The aim is to give a flavour of the software being written, often by amateurs, at the time. There are other sites which have commercial software to download.
